Opportunities: Kiva, Online Media Creativity Workshop, OTI
Often SMEX comes across excellent opportunities for employment, fellowships, funding, and training. Some are local, others regional, and still others global. All of them have relate to using online media to build stronger communities. We hope to become an invaluable resource for Lebanon’s online community, so we want to you know that these positions, posts, and pockets are out there. Here’s what’s on deck:
Kiva.org, the online microfinance organization whose goal is to reduce global poverty through person-to-person lending, is looking for a full-time project development specialist for the MENA region. The location is flexible. Kiva’s partners in Lebanon include Al Majmoua and Ameen (pilot partner).
An Online Creativity Workshop, focusing on writing, producing, and distributing audiovisuals for online media, will be held in Amman, Jordan, from May 18-22. Joi Ito, the CEO of Creative Commons will give the workshop, hosted by the Royal Film Commission of Jordan and the well-equipped SAE Institute. To apply, send your resume and a brief motivation letter to programs [at] film [dot] jo. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, May 12.
The Office of Transition Initiatives is looking for a project development specialist for South Lebanon. The OTI program “promotes youth activism and conflict mitigation.” Interested candidates should read the position description and and send a CV to lebanon.job [at] gmail [dot] com.
